the fact it is fridayment just so nice outside. storm scan3, at the moment, clear as a bell, you have got little hint of ground clutter no more precipitation that's all being swept well out to sea. and we are brightening up nicely here. so we expect to see just not only a bright and sunny day but far more comfort for you but it will still be warm outside at the height of the day, we expect to still hit typical mid july standards, on the thermometer, in the way of about 87 degrees in philadelphia. mid lower 308's, at the resort towns here. hour by hour here, in increments throughout the day 87 the expected hi, hit that around 4:00 p.m., 5:00 p.m. or so. and see the sunshine, but keep that humidity nice and low for you. who is headed down to the shore point this weekend? we have good news, there as well. mid 80s this is good stuff guys. minus the humidity for both of these days, as well, and we keep you in the mid 80s with sunshine, i mean, does it get better than this? does the timing get better than this? i ask you probably not vet

so if that's where you are headed give yourself some more time. also be mine fuld kelly driver out bound, hunting park avenue, right lane block supposed to ends today. so just keep that in mind if it is still lingering out there. >> torrey, thank youment damaging storms once again tear through parts of the area leaving behind a huge mess. >> "eyewitness news" reporter january car bear owe live for just new castle, delaware, funnel cloud actually reported. but a loft damage, jan good morning. >> reporter: nicole, erika good morning that funnel cloud was reported, still needs to be confirmed by the national weather service but you can see all of the damage here just off new castle avenue, new castle delaware, those power lines are in the middle of the road here. delmarva power is working hard to get the power restored. and just to your right here in the mobile home park you can see just the power of this storm, windows and cars, smashed. some of the homes here, taken off of their foundations. you can see power crews are moving here to get the work done. i opportunity bring in tiffany, and her husband eric

howards, home here at the time of the storm. they heard what happened. you guys are safe and healthy. that's the good news, but what did you hear, what did you see? >> it started wolf just some thunder. it started making all of the light flicker, then suddenly all of the lights just come busted. and then all you heard was things being flown around. >> but nothing came through the window and nothing hurt you guys. that's the good news this morning. >> yes actually, the light structure actually did fall down like on top of us. and it shattered everywhere, but other than that, just the electricity, light bussing you know, very loud noise. >> what have they told but your home? six apartments i here are con determined? >> six ants here, two amounts in the back, plus trailer number 35. we're not allowed to stay here. actually want everyone in the complex to be out due to not having electricity. >> we're just happy you guys are standing here with us this

controversial symbol sparking debate nationwide over it use. and how lawmakers should now address the issue. >> it has been a fixture on the gown of the south carolina state house for five decades. but, later this morning, it would become a relishing, in a museum. governor nicky haley signed the bill thursday, ordering the confederate flag to come down. dedicating the move to the victims of last month's charleston shooting massacre. >> the action of non-individuals -- nine individuals late out this long chain every events that forever showed the state of south carolina what love and forgiveness looks like. >> other states in the south are also reconsidering symbols of the con fed rasi. new orleans mayor mitch landreaux is calling for several confederate monuments to be replaced. >> these ideals have never really belong in the sit as great as new orleans. >> the debate has even fronted capitol hill, lawmakers both sides talking about whether the controversial flag should be flown at cemeteries, run by the national park service.

of east upsal street just before midnight. they are being treated at the hospital for smoke inhalation, and burns to their arms and hands. the fire is the cause that far fire is under investigation. power is back on in old city this morning after underground explosion. "eyewitness news" cameras were the only ones rolling as dark smoke bill owed out of the ground. it forced evacuations in parts every old city and street closures blocks from historic landmarks, blown transformer caused the fire and explosion. no one was injured. >> all right, 6:08 right now. coming up: massive military cutbacks. the controversial flan will bring the us army to its smallest grounds force since before 9/11. >> new video just released shows the moment of impact in deadly crash involving cat lynn jenner. see the key piece of they had a could lead to criminal charges. >> and they are world champions and today they will be treated as such. preparations are now underway in new york for a parade honoring the us women's

there is came into us from dolores, out in newark, right about yeah. there is a little hint, you can just barely see it, but she did see it, it is tough to tell from the cam have a view but was in fact a double rainbow that came through her area in newark, delaware, after the storms rolled through yesterday. meantime the storms are all obviously long gone, actually see the clouds moving before your very eyes here not terribly win bye you sign things are getting swept out of here. 67 degrees, sun desperately trying to break it through here and just help warm things up at the surface will do that not just in kutztown but everywhere else today. we lost the humidity, win flow, and high pressure on your side. looking like loverly day. looks like the rest of the forecast will be pretty phenominal too at least through the weekends. our storm system comes along ushering in next shot for showers, storms, appears at this point although tuesday may look similar. notice we keep the heat right through the next seven days, but again for now the

humidity is not a weather-related factor in this forecast, that's good news. vittoria? >> thank you good morning everyone, right now unfortunately, the bad news is that rush hour now in place. if you are traveling on 95, 95, you are commuting southbound, out of the northeast, and then down through to the vine street expressway, you are going to find some slow going. it is not going to feel completely saturated in traffic the entire commute. you will have breaks, but it, will still feel like a drag. it is the usual stuff. northbound on 95, no major problems, sun glare may be playing a factor in your commute this morning. make sure to put the shades on or pull the shade down. the roosevelt boulevard, no problem. southbound 76, may hit snack there. usually on the schuylkill westbound pocket builds at city avenue even around this time, and ultimately, affect the southbound side of the rosieres that's one area. and we are packed with events this weekend. the warp tour today starting 11:00 a.m. i'm sure a lot of people are getting there early kenny

lexus, then black prius driver of the lexus dried at the scene after hitting a hummer head on. now, there are questions over whether jenner should face criminal charges in this incident. >> judging from the video, all of these cars were following each other way too closely and jenner's had the heaviest load. if it is determine he was following too closely, which is an infraction, than caused the accident, then, he could conceivably face criminal liability. probably misdemeanor manslaughter. >> jenner's also facing several civil suits related to this crash. and we doesn't with a to mention caitlin's son jody brenner, talking about his father's transportation a woman. >> brody appeared on the talk and said he first found out about caitlin identifying as a woman from his mother, linda stomp job she told me about three years ago we were on boat trip to kathleen a and she just casino of said hey do you want to know one of the reasons why your father and i split up, just sort of we got into the conversation, and i knew i thought i knew, i just -- because i had heard some stories from bruce at the

this is cbs-3 "eyewitness news". good friday morning to you. power crews have been working around the clock to restore power to hard hit areas from last night's storms, school just destroyed but wait a second, and look right there. on the right of your screen, what a difference a day makes i mean, much easier to clean up. we have beautiful weather today. katie, i can't remember the last weaken where we had two nice days. and to finally get one. >> been a while. we expect to see not just stormy weather during this time of year, it is our time for severe weather but when you have clean to up do.

that will ruin your weekend right? we also of course have had two recent weekend where it just poured on us. now finally good news. >> yes, looking like the whole next three day stretch just lovely. so not only sunny but stays warm and with low humidity. so that's key. >> keep talking sister. >> it is all good. we start it off here with the view of storm scan3, which is totally empty just like we like it, and it will stay way way throughout the course of the next really 72 hours frankly, because again not dealing with any storm systems moving through. in full disclosure, coy see little disturbance clipping southern delaware, tomorrow, but at the moment, no one has to worry about wet weather. we look at the area of dew point right now, into the mid or upper 60s down across some of the southern tear of the area. but cooler, drier air definitely nudging in. when you are below 65 degrees on the dew point temperature just starts to feel more comfortable, granted it certainly does, allentown mount pocono, my goodness, good hair day for you as we take you around the region, you still got at least little

hint of breeze. not enough to mess with you it is noticeable, but comfortable, 73 degrees, currently at the airport, 72 in ac. again, just modest and cool nice breeze to kick start the morning here. so we look around the region as whole. everybody can bank on sunday shine, just nice day at the resort towns, in the city, regardless of your plan, it is still warm, don't get me wrong, but without the humidity feels so nice outside. make excuse to get outside. have some lunch alfresco, do something, even if it is just take five minute walk on your lunch break whatever you got to do, day to enjoy make the most of it, vittoria? >> i think i may window shop, katie. >> what a great day to do that. good morning everyone, right now, if you are traveling out and about for rush hour, that's what you will fine. you will fine rush hour delays as we take a look at the 42 freeway, traveling in the northbound direction as you approach the area of 295 as you will notice, bit of pile up. >> this volume here is not only going to affect obviously the commute on the 42, but 55,

295, filtering on to the 42 freeway as women. keep that in mine. traveling on the southbound side of the 42 freeway, no problems at allment maybe you are headed down the shore get early start the garden state parkway, the acx all good. moving to 476 blue route right around route one not awful, northbound side getting slow between 95 making your way to up that point. if you are traveling in new jersey, 295 northbound, route 130, do have accident here. we are seeing delays associated with that, and as we take a look at the wide, speed censors just continuing to drop. twenty-one your average on 95, out of the northeast down through to the vine. twenty-four on the schuylkill expressway. traveling the pa turnpike however looking okay. i would say 422 eastbound anticipate some delays around trooper. no delays for mass transit. nicole? >> thank you, people in part of our area are assessing the damage this morning of course, left behind with the severe storms that rolled through the region last night. >> "eyewitness news" reporter jan carabeo joins us now in new castle, delaware, where funnel cloud was reported. jan, a lot to clean up today. good morning.

>> good morning, the office of emergency management tells us that eyewitnesses did indeed spot a funnel cloud last night, or at least what appeared to be a funnel cloud. what exactly moved through this area, however, still needs to be confirmed by the national weather service, we told officials with nws will be out here later this morning, you can see, it is very active here, has been all night long, and all morning. delmarva power has been here on scene righting utility polls, trying to get the power restored to the area. just across new castle avenue, here in new castle, delaware, here is the hardest hit area that we found so far, it is mobile home park, here, a lot of debris on the gown, you can see the car ride out front there has it windows smashed and the first home on the corner, was towelly pushed off of its foundation, and it fell on it front steps and the damage just keeps going on and on down the line. so take a look at the apartments, right next-door. there are six amount there. they have been condemned we're told, by people who live

there because during the storm the roof was ripped off. so a lot of damage to clean up here later today another people looking foreplays to stayment exactly with a came through here, still unclear. office of emergency management says before 8:00 last night some people saw what appeared to be funnel cloud. move through this area. the most significant damage was done, here, at the delaware river industrial park on dock view drive. at this mobile home park, officials say, that the cloud appeared to be 30 feet above the ground, and caused walls to collapse at that industrial park. and of course, created so much damage here at the mobile home park. also downed utility polls leaving a lot of people without power. earlier in the evening, if you lock at this video storm rolled through points west of this area in berks county, around 6:00 p.m. the blue mountain academy on mount road in tilden township destroyed, these pictures posted to the school's facebook page. two people were in the building at the time but were able to escape unharmed. there is good news. and in philadelphia, this huge

tree came down on a house in the washington square west section of the city. this surveillance video take friend nearby home on the 1100 block of rodman street. fortunately, no one was hurt inside this home either. the homeowner was there with her child and didn't even hear the tree come down. they are okay. here in new castle county again a lot of damage, and people are remembering the power of this storm. take a listen. >> we saw it in the distance, but we didn't know it was a tornado, looked like a bad storm. we been here since what 1942? >> so you didn't see a funnel cloud or anything like that? >> no. >> you just heard thought it was allowed -- >> no, the neighbors around here saw, it was confirmed a tornado. >> your neighbors? what did your neighbors tell you? >> neighbors say they heard allowed whistling, they heard that before, they knew it was a tornado. >> did they see the funnel cloud? >> , no happened so fast. >> so still unclear exactly what came through here, but the people who live in this

mobile home park they really feel it was indeed a tornado that came through by what they heard and what they see left behind of course national weather service will have to confirm that of course. we will be here to bring you any and all updates just as soon as we get themment for now live in new castle, delawarement jan carabeo cbs-3, "eyewitness news". >> jan, thank youment meanwhile teenager in custody this morning charged with assault after police say he set young boy on fire in west philadelphia. eleven year old gwen spears and friends were walking home from swimming pool on wednesday when they saw 17 year old rafiq tiggl. they asked him forehands sanitizer, that's when he squirt it overseas and lit a lighter. >> i was mad and sad. >> i was appalled. i was appalled that anyone could even do this. it is a serious act. >> well, luckily, glenn is expected to be okay, tiggle facing several chargesment philadelphia police launch internal investigation after a youtube video shows officers

beating a suspect during arrest. it is not known what happened before the cameras started rolling on locust avenue east germantown on april 3rd. los angeles blogger posted this video wednesday and identified the suspect as 22 year old tyree carol. offers remembers zone re pet educationally punching and kicking carol lying face down. he was charged with drug and assault offenses. >> now philadelphia police department says officers were injured attempt to go arrest that suspect. in a statement, police say quote, as the officers stopped the defendant, he began to fight with the officers, biting one of the officers a number of three times to his thigh, hand, and arm. the defendant also bit another officer on the forearm, during this arrest. the entire incident being reviewed for departmental violations. >> erika, happening today south carolina will take down the confederate flag state house grounds. governor nicky haley signed the bill into law yesterday. supporters see the flag as a symbol of southern pride, but opponent say it is racist.

>> what an improvement in the forecast? >> much nicer weather across the delaware valley today not just the skies starting to clear out but also, humidity lower. checking in eyewitness weather watchers go right on out to allentown, julia sent in 69 degrees for us currently up in allentown does have hint of humidity, trust me, starting to feel so much nicer, across the delaware valley, further off to the south, go into south central new jersey 72 degrees coming into us. with just few clouds, still left over, she as got little hint of the northwest wind that's what's going to hook us up here, that's what's going to help rid us of the humidity, she got 72 degrees, sent in within the last 21 minute, so really starting to brighten up for us across the

high. good morning everyone. hello there. right now traveling on our area bridges you are going to find some volume. i would say primarily on the ben franklin bridge, as we take a look at the ben here, you are going to notice few more cars, starting to crowd the roadway headed into philadelphia. by no means is it full swing rush just yet. that's the thing just yet. only going to develop even more, sun glare out there that will affect your commute as well, traveling from pa, into the garden state, i would say, you are good to go. if you are traveling elsewhere, like maybe if you are traveling on 95, in and out the northeast, at least in this area here, right around woodhaven, moving fairly well. however, further south, you are going to find delays approaching cottman, then making your way down through to the vine street expressway. that's the usual stuff. you also may find some delays on 95, going to and from the area of the commodore barry bridge in delaware county. we do, however have, two accident to touch upon. one, being if you are traveling the ramps to the 42 freeway off 76 west, two right lanes block then this accident here, on the northbound side of 295 route
